10 Things to Never say to a Stay-at-Home Mom

I found this article thanks to a friend, (thanks Leiah). I thought this was awesome!

10 Things To Never Say To a Stay-at-Home mom:

1: When the kids are older, do you think you'll get a real job?

2: How June Cleaver of you!

3: Oh, so you don't work?

4: Since you have extra time on your hands, could you whip up a few dozen brownies for the bake sale tomorrow?

5: All day with your kids? I can't even imagine.

6: I'm jealous, I wish my husband were rich so I wouldn't have to work either.

7: What do you do all day, anyway?

8: I'm sure you're not the only one who's ever wasted money on a college degree.

9: That explains why your son is so clingy!

10: Weird. I assumed your house would be super clean.

This cracks me up because it's so true!! Being a stay at home mom is not always the easy relaxed life that people think it is. It's a lot of work. Unlike a full time 9-5 job, our work never ends, we don't get to clock out and go home at the end of the day. In fact, the end of the day is our "busy season" because that's when dinner needs made, baths need to happen, teeth need brushed, and kids need to go to bed. Which, at least in my house, bedtime is a NIGHTMARE! It's like a BIG SURPRISE to everybody that everynight they have to put on pajamas and go to BED! If we're lucky we get an hour or two of quiet time after the kiddos are asleep, just to wake up the next morning and START OVER.

Although being a stay at home mom is hard work, it's one of the most rewarding things in my life. I love that I get to be here with the kids everyday. I never have to miss their first anything. I chose to be a stay at home mom when Ambria was born, and I don't regret it. I take pride in the fact that my kids don't have to go to day care. I love that I can be here when Braydon gets home from school and am able to help him on his homework. Everyday I get to see my kids' beautiful reunion when Braydon gets home from school and they run to eachother and hug. There's no way not to get joy out of that.

So I dare someone to say one those things to this stay at home mom, haha!!

Caution! I ramble on for a long time here.

So I know it has been a very long time since I've updated this blog, but things have been so busy. With the move and everything else that has been going on, it's been crazy.
We did take some pictures, however I will have to post those later. But here's what we've been up to.
On Sep 27, we packed our house in a Penske truck, loaded the kids up, said some tearful goodbyes and started on our long journey to Fort Hood, Texas. At this point we did not know where we were gonna be living when we got here, we planned to be in a hotel for a while and just off load the truck into a storage unit until we found our new place. The drive went really well (all things considered). The kids did pretty good. Jason drove the Penske truck and towed our trailer behind him while I followed in the Trailblazer. Most of the time the kids wanted to be in the big truck with daddy so I was by myself (which was AWESOME!) I turned the music up and probably looked like an idiot singing to myself. haha. We stopped the first night in Shreveport and stayed the night, then got up the next morning to finish our drive. The whole thing went pretty fast. We were making pretty good time and then we got almost to Temple, Texas (about 30 minutes or so from our destination) and we stopped for some gas and to stretch a little, and piled back into the cars and headed for the interstate. I turned around to check for traffic to merge and something happened in my lower back and I got a really bad sharp pinching pain that shot down my legs and I couldn't move (scariest moment ever) I thought I was going to crash because I couldn't move my legs. Long story short, we were able to pull back over and get out. I have no idea what happened, but I am so glad we were so close to Fort Hood at that point, because I couln't really drive much longer. It hurt so bad to be sitting and I couldn't even bend over. But we were so close so I just dealt with it and kept on going.
Finally, we rolled into Killeen and found a great hotel to call home. And the next day started the search for a place to live. We were looking for rentals, because we are not sure we want to purchase out here. We first checked out post housing and ran away screaming as fast as we could. It was a little stressful and overwhelming trying to find a good decent area to live in a place that you know nothing about. We had heard from a few people to try Copperas Cove, that it was the best city to live in so we went there. We drove around that place for 2 days and we couldn't find the nice part. So we gave up there. Short story long, we FINALLY found a place in a good part of Killeen with a good school for Braydon, and super close to everything!
Since we didn't know anyone here that could help us move. We just googled the church out here and randomly got a ward and they offered to help us. Oddly enough we ended up being in their ward boundaries and we were so thankful for their help.
This was probably the most stressful move we have ever made, with all the other little problems that kept happening throughtout the whole process, but we prayed A LOT and we really feel like we are where we are for a reason, like we were led here. We are very happy so far with Braydon's school, it is WORLDS different from his school in Alabama, and they even have a pre-preschool program for Ambria. She gets to go to school once a week with other kids her age and they have their own little classroom and homework and everything. She loves it. The school is just around the corner from us so we can walk.
The kids are adjusting really well. Braydon is happy to be in a fun school and Ambria is still trying to figure out what the heck just happened, but so far it's been good.
Oh, I still haven't seen a doctor about my back (Jason just in processed Tricare today) so I just try not to do anything that hurts it. I'm pretty sure I know what it is and hopefully the doctors will be able to do something about it.
I will try to get some new photos up as soon as I can. We are still trying to get re organized.

A New Driver And New Friends

Just a few random new pics. Ambria thinks she is so big. We're taking her to get her licence tomorrow, although I don't know what her plan is to reach the pedals. Oh, well we'll just let let her work that out!

Braydon and Ambria found this lovely car cart at the commisary the other day. BTW, I really hate grocery shopping and it is worse when you have two rug rats that complain and don't want to be there either and I also hate pushing those big annoying carts around, but surprisingly it made the whole crappy grocery shopping experience a little easier, with both kids happy and having fun in the cart. They even did the stearing for me....Haha. Ambria would copy whatever Braydon did, so if he pretended to stear, she did too, if he stood up and got out of the cart.....I think you see where this is going.

Jason and I went out to lunch last weekend and Ambria really wanted to get out of her high chair, so we let her out, mostly out of curiosity. She, as it turns out, is very social. After pushing the high chair back to it's proper place (above) she went ahead and introduced herself to everyone else in the restaurant. She made a lot of new friends, not excluding a table full big men including Mr "I could kill you with one squeeze", Mr "I'm too big for my OWN good" and Mr. "my friends call me bubba". But this little baby girl just goes right up to this table of rather large men and they melted, like puddy in her hands. She gave them a quick little speech about her day, her frustrations, or whatever? (still learning baby babble, here) and then she walked away. Turns out she's a pretty smooth operator! She must get that from me. Right.

Root Beer And Dr. Pepper

Why is it that when you go to a restaurant and ask if they have Root Beer, they always say, "No, but we have Dr Pepper." This happens just about every time we go out and Jason tries to order Root Beer. I just think this is hilarious. In what way is root beer, at all, like Dr Pepper??? How did they become related? I don't get it. Just a thought!
